Dermal Fillers – a revolutionary treatment for anti-aging and youthful-looking skin!

At Azul Aesthetics & Wellness Boutique in Syracuse, dermal fillers are one of our most popular treatments. It’s no secret, that men and women all across the globe elect for non-surgical rejuvenation every year. With more and more celebrities and influencers being more vocal about aesthetics, “dermal fillers” are one of the most highly Googled aesthetic terms. As we age, the skin on our face will, unfortunately, get thinner and drier, the fat layer underneath the skin begins to sink which causes loss of muscle tone, and wrinkles become more noticeable. At Azul Aesthetics & Wellness Boutique in Syracuse, NY, we desire to help you regain the youthful look you desire in a safe, comfortable environment.

While we provide several options to help you achieve your appearance goals, many of our patients elect to receive Dermal Fillers, which work against the aging process by introducing some of the chemical compounds that give your skin that youthful look.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are injectable therapies that can help restore volume to your face and smoothen out any wrinkles that have formed. There are several different types of dermal fillers offered, each one featuring a different combination of compounds, many of which are already naturally found in your body.

Currently, the most popular filler is Hyaluronic Acid which is a lubricating gel that is produced by your body to help keep the tissues moisturized, flexible, and stretchy. When injected into the skin, it can help restore what nature has begun to take away. Hyaluronic acid is one of the main ingredients found in today’s popular dermal filler brands such as Juvederm and Restylane.

Medical science has discovered how to extract hyaluronic acid and use it to restore damaged and aging tissue. Many people who suffer from arthritis will receive hyaluronic acid injections to reduce their discomfort and give them extra joint protection.

Who are the Best Candidates for Dermal Fillers?

The best candidates for Dermal Filler in Syracuse are those who are experiencing the effects of nature and time on their faces and would like to regain the youthful appearance they desire. We encourage all of our patients to be in overall good health and maintain realistic expectations of the outcome of their treatment.

We like to remind our patients that this treatment is temporary and will not aid in contouring their body, such as butt lifts or breast augmentation. While the fillers can add volume to your face, it is not a substitute for more permanent plastic surgery procedures.

What’s the First Step?

If you are interested in getting Dermal Fillers in Syracuse, we encourage you to contact our boutique and schedule a consultation with one of our certified and experienced members of our team. What to Expect on the day of Dermal Fillers?

First, your doctor or a specially trained nurse will evaluate your skin tone and facial appearance, examining where your face needs to be augmented. Special, strategically target areas of your face may be marked to indicate the appropriate injection sites for the filler. Some reference photos may be taken if your doctor feels they are needed. Next, the targeted sites will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent, followed by either the application of the anesthetic ointment, the use of a very cold instrument pressed to your skin, or an injection of anesthesia, depending on what you and your Doctor discuss during your consultation. Then your doctor will inject the fillers into the targeted site, which will only take a few moments per treatment area. Your doctor will inject the filler, massage the area, and evaluate the result, only adding additional filler if needed.

Dermal Fillers Recovery

The recovery from receiving dermal filler injections can vary from patient to patient as well as for each type of filler injected and the location. You should be able to resume a majority of your activities immediately following your treatment, however, we highly suggest avoiding intense physical activity for at least 24-48 hours to minimize any swelling or bruising. Some patients do experience some bruising, temporary numbness, or palpable lumps at the injection area, but these symptoms are temporary and can be treated with cold compresses and gentle massage. In some extremely rare circumstances, certain patients may have a hypersensitive reaction that imitates an allergic reaction, including hives and swelling. In even rarer situations, a visual disturbance can occur, accompanied by pain or weakness in one side of the body. If you DO experience this, please contact us immediately so that we can take care of the issue as quickly as possible.

Injectables & Fillers

Under Eye Fillers

When receiving Under Eye Fillers, you may be asked if you would like numbing cream applied. If the answer is yes, we will apply the cream and give the cream time to work fully. We will then inject tiny amounts of hyaluronic acid filler into the depressed areas under each eye. Depending on how long it takes for the numbing cream to work, the actual injection process should only take a few minutes.

Lip Fillers

If you’re receiving Lip Fillers, the steps mentioned above are pretty much the same. You will typically be administered a topical anesthetic to numb any potential pain or discomfort, which should take effect between 15 and 30 minutes. A thin needle will then be used to inject the lip filler into the parts of your lips as discussed during your consultation. You shouldn’t feel any pain during this injection, but you may notice a slight pinching sensation. Afterward, you will be provided an ice pack for your lips to minimize swelling and/or bruising.

FAQs

  • Are Dermal Fillers painful?

While the actual Dermal FIller treatment is painless (much akin to receiving a flu shot), there are some potential side effects, such as:
    • Redness
    • Swelling
    • Bruising
    • Itching
    • Mild Pain
These side-effects occur shortly after the procedure and are typically temporary, fading over the following few weeks. Very rarely, some patients might experience the development of lumps, discoloration, or infections at the injection site. If you do experience any of these side effects, please give us a call so we can assist you with finding a solution to these problems.
  • How long will the results last?

Dermal Fillers are only temporary. Your body will naturally begin to break down the filler after about 6 months. When this happens, you will begin to notice your natural contours slowly re-appear. Depending on how your body responds to the fillers, you may want to consider coming back for a touch-up once or twice a year.
  • How long until I can see my results?

Some results will be seen almost immediately, while others you’ll start noticing between 24 and 48 hours to allow any potential bruising or swelling to subside, you will notice the full effects of your treatment in about 14 days.

Testimonials

What our clients and patients have to say:

“I am so thrilled with my lips! Dr. Lissa took her time and listened to me. This was my first experience with filler, and I was wanting a very conservative change. This is exactly what we achieved! I am very pleased with the final result and will be back for future visits!”
“Just left Dr. Diaz and was very impressed. Knowledgeable seems to have a great eye and actually talked me out of doing too much. I booked my next appointment for three months from now for my botox and filler. I’m so glad I found her.”
