Who are the Best Candidates for IPL?

The Best Candidates for IPL are people with pale or light brown skin who are looking to fix any skin ailments that make them feel self-conscious and are looking to alleviate them. You should also be in good health and maintain a positive mentality when it comes to the outcome of your treatment.

You should not get IPL if you are currently pregnant, have a current skin condition, or take medication for a skin condition.

IPL Recovery

During the first 4-6 hours of your procedure, you might feel like you have a sunburn. The use of ice packs or a cold washcloth can help ease any discomfort. Your skin will also be red or bruised for the first day or two, and some of your brown spots may get darker, however, they should peel off within a few weeks.

While you’re healing, don’t apply make-up if your skin still hurts, apply lotion and sunscreen, and keep your face clean. You will be given strict instructions on when you can return to your normal skin routine (usually within a week).

What to Expect on the Day of IPL Therapy?

The day you come in for your IPL therapy, you should be prepared to show up a few minutes earlier to ensure that you’ve followed the regimen instructed to you before your procedure. You will then be administered a light dose of over-the-counter pain medication to assist you with any discomfort during your procedure. Then a topical anesthetic will be applied, followed by a cold gel. This gel ensures better absorption of the light pulses which has better healing effects on the underlying skin tissue.

A prism-like object is then placed over the gel-coated site. Flashes of intense light are projected through the prism which treats different parts of the skin with light pulsating in different wavelengths. This helps create minimal superficial damage to the skin while applying concentrated pulsed light to the areas that need deeper penetration.

What our clients and patients have to say:

“I am so thrilled with my lips! Dr. Lissa took her time and listened to me. This was my first experience with filler, and I was wanting a very conservative change. This is exactly what we achieved! I am very pleased with the final result and will be back for future visits!”
“Just left Dr. Diaz and was very impressed. Knowledgeable seems to have a great eye and actually talked me out of doing too much. I booked my next appointment for three months from now for my botox and filler. I’m so glad I found her.”
